Did you know that the Everett Symphony has an incredible array of educational programs for children, youth at risk, and the community? Read on and learn!

The Everett Symphony brings live symphonic music to our communities, performing over the years in Arlington, Stanwood, Mercer Island, Mukilteo, Woodinville, Monroe, Seattle and Port Angeles. Internationally, we've performed American music programs in Eisenstadt, Baden and Vienna, Austria in 1996 and Rome, Montecatini and Abano, Italy in 2001.

Explore Music!

Our Explore Music! Series is designed for the young listener to present the magic of Live symphonic music through the use of story, mime, drama, and easy listening. We offer two educational concerts each season, with two morning performances for school children grades K-6. These performances are often the first time the young student has ever been to a concert hall. Many children make the decision to enter their school music programs because of the Explore Music! experience. The Symphony provides children the opportunity to learn about orchestral music in a fun and informative way.

If you would like to assist with any of our educational programs, please contact the Executive Director at 425-258-1605 or info@everettsymphony.org.

Explore Music! Concert - Surprise!
October 30th, 2008
10:00 am/11:15 am
Everett Civic Auditorium

Dear Educators,

We are eager for you and your students to enjoy the Everett Symphony’s performance of Surprise! on the 30th of October.  This is a very exciting event for students of all ages.  For many, this will be the first classical music experience they will have the opportunity to enjoy.  Giving students the tools necessary to truly grasp the artistic and intellectual beauty of music is extremely important for development.

We have included downloadable material that will help your students begin their journey into the realm of classical music.  There is so much to be learned from music.  Presenting it to your students as a mystery will help to illustrate the importance of listening closely.   Inside this packet, we ask your students to use detective skills to help us solve a “musical crime”.

You have also received some information on the proper manners for orchestral events and a small list of instruments your students will see and hear.  Please use this material at your discretion and feel free to modify it to fit your teaching style or to fit how your students learn best.

Enjoy these activities.  If you have any questions or need more study material, please contact the Everett Symphony administration office at 425-258-1605 or info@everettsymphony.org
