Dr. Paul Elliott CobbsDr. Paul-Elliott Cobbs is in his twenty-fifth year as Music Director and Conductor of the Everett Symphony Orchestra.  Dr. Cobbs has brought the Everett Symphony Orchestra to a new level of artistic excellence. He has led the orchestra in two international performance tours including Vienna and Italy, as well as an appearance at New York City’s Carnegie Hall.  Cobbs and the ESO’s sold-out appearance in Carnegie Hall was a resounding success.  His reading of the Afro-American Symphony was the first on that stage since the composer conducted the work 30 years ago.

He is a world-renowned maestro who amazes and mesmerizes thousands of symphony goers with his down-to-earth personality and his talent for leading musicians through the widest range of music. Dr. Cobbs is an international conductor with conducting credits not only throughout the United States, but also from Japan and Europe.  Invitations to perform in England, Spain and China are on the horizon.

Cobbs began his conducting career at age 21 as the Associate Conductor of the Detroit Metropolitan Symphony, Principal Conductor of its chamber orchestra and frequent Guest Conductor of the Michigan Opera. While in Europe studying conducting at the Akademie für Musik, he was Principal Conductor of the Festival Chamber Orchestra in Vienna. In the Northwest, he has been Assistant Conductor with the Seattle Opera, Music Chair of The Northwest School of the Arts and Guest Conductor with the Seattle Symphony. He is currently Music Director of Tacoma Youth Symphony in addition to his position with the Everett Symphony. Dr. Cobbs received his Doctorate in Conducting from the University of Washington, his Bachelors Degree in Music from Wayne State University and attended the Akademie für Musik in Vienna, Austria.
